Hutchinson Community College is a fully accredited comprehensive public college offering five degrees: Associate of Arts, Associate of Science, Associate of Liberal Studies, Associate of Fine Arts, and Associate of Applied Science. HutchCC has an open admissions policy and is governed locally by an elected board of directors.

Aiken County Schools Surveying Parents About Modified Academic Calendar

In the spring of 1928, Hutchinson voters approved the establishment of a two-year co-educational college named Hutchinson Junior College. The college held its first class that fall. Enrollment is 187 students – 177 freshmen and 10 sophomores. Classes are held on the newly constructed second and third floors of Hutchinson High School at Seventh and Walnut. In February 1938, the Board of Education acquired land on Plum Street and built Rockman Auditorium.

On July 1, 1965, the college was renamed Hutchinson Community Junior College and management was transferred to an elected Board of Trustees. In 1980 the name was changed back to Hutchinson Community College. On July 1, 1993, HutchCC merged with the local vocational school and changed its name to Hutchinson Community College and Area Vocational School. In 2012, "and district vocational schools" were dropped from the name.

New additions to HutchCC include a sports field, stadium, tennis courts, maintenance and storage buildings, a student union with two additional facilities, two residence halls, a library, a science building, a fine arts building and a sports complex. John F. The Kennedy Library was completed in 1966, and the Koepke Science Museum was completed in late 1967. Elland and Kent Halls, male and female dormitories, also opened in 1967.

In April 1970, the college acquired 425 acres of land and buildings from the Hutchinson Air National Guard. They are mainly used in agriculture, emergency medicine, construction and technical education courses. This place is known as South Campus.

In 1975, a wing was added to Rockman Hall. In 1980, the college acquired Davis Hall (Ninth and Walnut) from the Hutchinson Hospital Company. It is used by Allied Health, Kansas Radio Station (HCCC's public radio station), Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP), Kansas Small Mine Safety and Occupational Courses. Safety

The Stringer Fine Arts Center opened in January 1989. A major addition to the Parker Students' Union was completed in 1996. In 1999, the college established the Scissor Technology Center to establish vocational training courses and labs for technology. On April 27, 2003, the library underwent a major renovation and was renamed the Rimmer Learning Resource Center after Hubco President and major contributor to the college, John Rimmer.

In late 2006, the renovated Gowins Stadium reopened. The stadium hosts school, college, regional and national events. In 2008, the Reno County Industrial Center was renovated and expanded. RCIC reopened the new facility under the name Ade-Wifco in recognition of the contributions of Fred Ade and Wifco Corporation.

In 2010, the Science Hall was transformed into a state-of-the-art science facility in recognition of the major contributions of local entrepreneur and alumnus Richard Smith, and the Richard E. and renamed the Smith Science Center.

In September 2013, the college dedicated the Bob and Lou Peel Allied Health Center at Ninth and Main to five allied health programs: physical therapy assistant, respiratory therapy, health information management, surgical technology and pharmaceutical technology.

Academic Honors And Fellowships

The new Fire Science Training Center was inaugurated on 26 April 2015. The project was conducted in conjunction with the City of Hutchinson Fire Department. The college also uses Hutchinson Field, providing maintenance in exchange for use of the building.

The college has several off-campus locations: McPherson, Newton, Fire Science, Allied Health (Davis Hall and Peel Center), and Cosmetology. The Newton branch opened in 2008 at the Axtell Education Center at 203 East Broadway in Newton, Kansas. The McPherson branch opened in 2010 at 2208 East Plaza McPherson, Kansas. HutchCC Cosmetology opened in 2016 at 200 E. Third Ave. in Hutchinson.

Renovated in the spring of 2015, the Jack Mull Home Soccer Center includes coaching offices, meeting space, locker rooms and the Bob and Lou Peel Bodybuilding Center.

University Of Szeged

With the support of the city of Hutchinson and constituents of Hutchinson, Hutchinson Stadium underwent a $29 million renovation that was completed in the spring of 2017. The project includes three new training gymnasiums, a new strength gymnasium and a sports medicine center. Renovated athletic department locker rooms and offices.
