Austin Isd Calendar 2023-2024 – The Houston Independent School Board of Education approved the 2022-2023 academic calendar, which adds another spring break in April and moves the last day of the first semester before winter break.
The calendar consists of one week of Thanksgiving break, two weeks of winter break, and one week of spring break. Students and staff will walk out on Labor Day, MLK Day, Chavez-Huerta Day and Memorial Day. HISD will also celebrate the holiday on October 5th and two spring breaks on April 7th and April 21st.
Austin Isd Calendar 2023-2024
Trustees approved a grant from the Texas Education Agency to support the high-quality after-school program. $882,500 comes from Emergency Relief School (ESSER) III funds that will be used to accelerate student learning following COVID-19. The dollars provide support in three areas: high-quality after-school staff, technical support for after-school design and implementation, and high-quality training in training programs.
United High School
The trustees approved a financial contribution from the U.S. Soccer Foundation of $100 to M.C. Williams MS. The donation is for the programs of the foundation Play for everyone and Safe Place to Play. Facilities and equipment include the construction of a mini-field system that includes an LED light bar, game wall, built-in goals, safety, seating, polycarbonate backboards, ADA accessible gates, an acrylic mini-field with playing lines and agreed colors and school logos.
The board also approved an internal donation from Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church. The church will donate $30,000 worth of items to Blackshear ES, Cullen MS, Lawson MS and Yates HS. The purpose of the donation is to fill a room in each school to help students in need. Donated items include clothing, toiletries and municipal cards.
